Sponsorship Application Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is this application used for?

This application is used by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) Sponsorship Committee to evaluate requests for sponsorship support. All decisions are based on the information provided in the application, so it is important that all sections are completed fully and accurately.

How are sponsorship decisions made?

Each application is assessed individually based on how well the proposed event or concept aligns with CIDOT’s core objectives. The Sponsorship Committee’s decision is final.

Does receiving sponsorship in the past guarantee future funding?

No. Previous sponsorship support does not guarantee continued or future sponsorship. Each request is evaluated on its own merits.

Is there a maximum sponsorship amount CIDOT considers?

As general guidance, CIDOT typically evaluates cash sponsorship requests of CI$10,000 or less. Requests above CI$10,000 may be considered but are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

When should I submit my application?

Applications must be submitted a minimum of six (6) to nine (9) months prior to the event date to allow adequate time for review.

What documents do I need before starting my application?

You should have the following prepared prior to submission:

  • An event overview
  • A detailed event budget outlining how the requested funds will be used

What legal or registration documents are required?

All entities requesting Government sponsorship funds must provide documentation confirming their legal status.

Applicants must submit one of the following, where applicable:

  • Government Exempt Letter
  • Valid Trade and Business License (must remain valid through the end of the proposed event)

What additional documents are required for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs)?

Non-Profit Organisations must provide:

  • NPO Certificate
  • Certificate of Good Standing
  • Information for all controllers and officers, including full name, phone number, email address, office held, and start date

What if I need help obtaining my Trade and Business License or NPO documentation?

If you require assistance, please contact the General Registry Compliance Unit:

What is required to receive sponsorship funds if my application is approved?

To receive funds, you must provide current NPO documentation or Trade and Business License information that matches the bank account where the funds will be deposited.

Failure to provide this information will result in an automatic decline. No entity is exempt from this requirement.

Will CIDOT contact me after I submit my application?

The Sponsorship Committee may contact applicants prior to the review meeting if additional clarification or information is required.

What happens if I don’t respond to a request for more information?

If additional information is requested, applicants must respond within the stated deadline. Failure to do so may result in the application being deferred to a subsequent committee meeting once the required information is received.
